The Holy Qur'an
When my family migrated from Bangladesh to the United States, one of the most important objects we carried with us was the Qur’an Sharif. My mom carried this very carefully in her handbag wrapped with a cloth for protection. It is a little heavy. No matter how heavy this is to carry, it symbolizes our faith, guidance, and connection to home and root during a new journey. As a practicing muslim family we have to read it, Because it is very important for us. Wherever we go in this world, we can’t stop reading the Quran. My mom pray Qur'an every single day and I pray once in a week. While everything around us changed the language, the culture, even the rhythm of daily life, we’re struggling every single day to adjust to our new surroundings. We felt connected with Allah through reading the Qur'an Sharif. It served as a reminder that we were not alone in a foreign country, our customs and faith surrounded us. As we started establishing a new life in the United States, this holy book Quran served as more than just a point of worship, it also gave us strength and peace.
