This box belonged to my great great grandmother, Eliza Turner Bown (1847-1933). She may have brought if from where she was born in Enniskillen, Ireland, or from Ontario, Canada, where her family moved when she was about 5 to escape famine. We think she immigrated to Bridgeport, CT around 1870. My mother keeps the box full of old family photographs, including a couple daguerreotypes. When my mom was my age now, she visited Enniskillen (now Northern Ireland). At the time, she didn't know it was the same town her great grandmother was born in.
Place(s): Ireland
Year: 1870
