When my family and I moved to the U.S. in 2010, my grandparents gave us this Wooden Book Holder. It is not just a book holder because, it also brings luck due to its pureness. How so? The way my grandparents explained was that with water we stay clean and not only that, we can clean anything if we have water. Therefore we can say water = cleanness. If that is the case, then all species that live in the water such as fishes are clean and pure. We call fish an actual Halal meat. Besides pureness and cleanness, fish also represents good luck and happiness especially in this case. My grandparents used to place their holy religious books and read on top of this book stand. They sure have notices many coming after this book stand so they gave us to keep us safe from evil eyes and any danger that might be in our way. I truly respect them and thank them for all their support and care they have showed to us. According to them, they bought it from a holy place when they visit Turkey in 1960s and since then, they have kept it. Now that each time I see this in my living room it reminds me that my grandparents are always with me, supporting me and the history they have shared with me will never die!
