The object/tradition is my grandmother’s wedding ring. My grandfather bought the ring for my grandmother. They were married for 42 years. Once she passed, the ring was passed down to my mother, who has passed it down to my brother. He will give it to his future wife. The ring connects to our identity because, it has been passed down through generations, and will continue to be passed down. The ring shows what it means to be an American because, marriage proposal is a big thing in American culture. The broader theme in US history that my object connected to is marriage.
