Shirt
The image that I chose is of a shirt that I acquired in Senegal. My mother and father are both from West Africa, and while they both grew up in Sierra Leone, my Father’s family is originally from Senegal. Over the summer of 2016, I went with my mom and dad to Senegal for the first time. It was eye opening to experience life similar to how my parents would have when they were growing up. I chose this shirt to represent this experience because it is the one physical item that I brought back with me from the trip. It serves as a reminder of the differences between my parents lives as immigrants in their early twenties and my life now.
