The name of my object is called a “Vestidos de Quinceanera”, the dress is formal, ornate, pink, ruffly, lacy, puffy, and long. The dress is made of silk and lace. It’s worn throughout the day of the fifteenth birthday of a girl throughout mass and reception. Yes, the dress has traveled because all the materials came from Mexico but the dress was assembled here. The people who use this object are the fifteen year old girls in the family. This dress is very unique because all these dresses are tailored to fit this girl’s identity, style, and who they want to portray themselves as, reflecting the girl herself and telling a story about her. I first learned about this object when I was young and was very interested in princesses. These dresses can teach me about my own identity because these dresses are supposed to represent and reflect the person wearing it because they’re custom made and styled the way they want. This object makes me feel excited for my own personal experience of having a dress and experience like this if I choose to have my own Quincenera. This object is important to me because it represents an important story and represents adulthood and how later I’ll get my own dress and experience like that. It shows how our own clothes can reflect our own personality, what our clothes say about us, and how clothes change over time and so can our taste in fashion.
