upside down pineapple cake
I will forever remember the 27 of August in the year of 2005. As we opened the oven, the aroma of the air was exhilarating ; I don't think I have ever smelt anything so delicious. Arguably, the pineapples in this cake were ripe to perfection. Moreover, that was the day I first learned how to bake and I was fortunate enough to share this first experience with my Great Grandmother. Since then baking has been one of my favorite hobbies. In fact, the first thing I learned how to bake was a pineapple upside down cake. Since she lived down in Naples, Florida, my great grandmother, Rita visited for one week; she usually would visit every so often throughout the year. From here on, she is the reason for my passion for cooking. She is the one who taught me how to make her famous homemade pineapple upside down cake, as well as many of her other famous recipes. Incidentally, I remember that day like it was yesterday we had matching aprons on with a whole lot of flour all over us. The memories I have of making this cake is one my fondest memories with my great grandma because it was our special thing to do together. Ultimately, that cake is significant to me because since her recent passing every time I bake I think of her, and am thankful for all that she has taught me, I miss her every day for that.
