This is my trompo. It is a top made of wood, and it is used by wrapping a string around the top, throwing it, and whipping the string back at yourself. This makes the top spin very fast. Too my knowledge, it comes from Latin America, where my family is originally from. My grandfather was the one who taught me how to use the trompo, so it helped me connect to him and to my family's background.
