Trio Industries Calendar
This is a page from a calendar from Trio Industries, Inc, the company that my grandfather founded. Louis Toth, my paternal grandfather, was born on August 30th, 1903 in Alvinc, Alsó-Fehér, Hungary. He left his home country because of social and political conditions present at the time. When he arrived in America he did not know English and had very little money. Despite this, through his hard work and help from the Hungarian community in New York City he became not only a United States citizen, but also a successful businessman who created a wonderful life for himself and his family.
Prior to coming to the United States, Louis Toth worked on a Dutch steamship. After settling in New York City, he eventually founded his own corporation, Trio Industries, Inc. The company specialized in “Architectural Bronze, Aluminum, Nickel and Stainless Steel Fabrication”. As stated in some of the company’s promotional material, “Trio Industries announce their entry into the architectural Metal Field upon their successful conclusion of war contracts in which they participated extensively”. The company was located at 542 West 27th Street and later relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut. With the start of his own company, Louis offered jobs to Hungarian immigrants who needed help beginning their new lives in the United States.
