The Strongbox
My grandfather and his family emigrated from Denmark to America in 1953. He brought this strongbox with him. It was made by my great-great-great-great grandfather, Gotfried Otto Frederik Hoffmann, who lived in Denmark. It was the final project of his apprenticeship back when he was 17 (1848). Ever since then, it has been handed down to the oldest child of the family, and has over time now made its way to me. On the bottom left is a note written in Danish from my great-great grandfather, and the one on the left is from my great-great grandfather. Both explain the story of my family and the strongbox.
