My Father's Immigration to US
My Dad immigrated from Peru to the United States when he was 24 years old. He decided to come to this country, because while he was living in Peru, he and his family were living in poverty since he was a baby, he wanted to have a better living than he had in Peru, and he thought that the US would be a great place for him. In order for him to be allow to come to the US, he had to take a test to know some history of the US and to apply for a green card. After he received his green card and passed his test, he was so happy that he can finally come to the US to start a new chapter of his life in which became the best decision that he ever made. One of the sad things that he has to do was that he has to leave his family behind. He promised them that he was going to try to have them come to the US in which all of his siblings and mother eventually came to the US in the 1990s. So the first US destination that my Dad traveled to was San Francisco. He had lived in San Francisco for around 19 years during the 1970s and 1980s. Then he decided to move to Tampa, Florida, because it was too expensive to live in San Francisco, and he thought that Florida would be a nice place to live due to the sunshine weather. He only lived in Tampa for 6 months, because he didn't like Florida due to being too humid for him. So he decided to move to Boston, Massachusetts, because he heard that it was considered to be one of the best states to live in the US. My Dad moved to Boston in January 1990. That's how my Dad came to the US and how he ended up in Massachusetts.
