While reflecting on my family's history and objects that could possibly be passed down, it saddens me to admit that our belongings have been consumed by fire twice. All I have now are things acquired recently, and unfortunately I cannot trace my family history past great grandparents. I know very little about those that came before me, so I will do everything in my power to ensure the memory of my family doesn’t fade. I think my strength lies in my words, so I will use my journal. It holds my deepest thoughts, prayers, and visions. It is my safe space in a cold, cold world. I hope it shows my children and grandchildren that they matter and that their words are powerful. It has my poems, short stories, and dreams on its pages. I will pass it down in hopes that my memory never fades.
