The object that I did is a patent by my great grandfather, for the Spark Arrestor. A Spark Arrestor is a mechanism on a train made to absorb sparks that come out with the exhaust. Before the Spark Arrestor was invented, these sparks would often start wildfires along train tracks, burning down buildings and other structures. But the Spark Arrestor prevents this from happening by connecting to the exhaust pipe, filtering out the Sparks and letting the exhaust pass through. My great grandfather, JB Rogers, invented this machine in Muskogee, OK. It is really cool to know that someone in my direct family invented something that saved lives.
