This ring was a gift from my grandmother to my father. It was made from the gold of my grandmother’s mangalsutra. A necklace that my grandfather placed on my grandmother on their wedding day in India in 1956. When my grandfather died, my grandmother melted the gold and made pieces of jewelry that she gave to her kids, and my father received this ring. It’s now a cherished family heirloom that remembers India and my grandparents.
