The Pickle of Christmas past.

My family comes from a long line of Christians. My siblings and I were baptized at the age of 2–3 and went to church every weekend until we were about 12, gradually drifting away from attending as we got older. Christmas, for us, is a holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ through gift‑giving, food, and bringing people together. The pickle tradition has been passed down for three generations to add something fun to the Christmas celebration.

Here’s how it works: after all the presents are opened, the parents tell the kids to stay in another room while they hide the pickle somewhere on the tree. Once it’s hidden, the kids search for it. The first one to find the pickle is declared the winner and receives a small gift. It’s a super fun tradition that adds a competitive twist to wrap up Christmas Day.
