Necklace

I have a gold antique necklace that used to belong to my grandmother. I can use it for any occasion because it is chic, elegant, shiny and I love it. My grandmother gave me the necklace when I was a little girl. She said, “My sweet baby girl this will protect you always so keep it and never lose it”. She emigrated to the United States and I didn’t see her for a long time. Two years ago when I came to the U.S, I started to treasure this necklace even more than before. Her necklace gave me strength when I faced difficult situations. The time I needed it most was when I first began looking for a job. It was very difficult for me because I did not speak English very well. Wherever I tried to talk to someone, I was so nervous that I started to shake. I soon discovered, however, that if I grabbed my grandmother’s necklace and squeezed it, it was like something magical. For some reason, this necklace soothed me and then I could speak English clearly. I think the real magic of my necklace is the love, trust and respect that I feel for my grandmother.
