Ticket

Group:

To get on a boat to America required a ticket. Unfortunately, it was expensive for my ancestors. Around the year 1900 my grandmother’s family on my dad’s side was interested in migrating to America.  Well, the kids were. The parents wanted to stay and work on their farm. So the kids worked and kept a secret bank account until they made enough for a ticket. After they bought it, they left their parents in Sicily. However, my grandfather’s story on my dad’s side is unknown by me or my dad. And my mom’s side is unknown by our entire family. This is because somewhere along the line my ancestor on my mom’s side was kidnapped when he was little, and after he escaped he had no idea how to get home. Where he ended up and what he did is unknown to me. I don't feel as though it has affected me much, but I know that these events probably, subconsciously, changed how I feel about certain topics such as, obviously, immigration.
