The object that shows my family's heritage is this hymn book. It is over 70 years old. It belongs to my grandmother, IiLeen. She is now 77 years old and has had this book in her possession since she was 5 years old. The writing inside shows how important this book is to her. She carried it everywhere and wrote different addresses and later on phone numbers. My grandma brought it to America in 1980 while traveling with my dad, grandpa and uncles. Ever since my grandfather passed away, my grandmother would take out her hymn book to comfort her and remind her of the great times her family has shared in and outside of church in Guyana. One day I hope the book gets passed down to me because it has sentimental value that holds my family together.
