This is the first article my grandfather (or as the grandkids called him, D-Daddy) wrote when he began journalism in Houma, Louisiana. He later went on to become the Sports Editor for the Florida Times Union in Jacksonville. As you can see here, D-Daddy was an excellent writer. I began writing screenplays and short stories when I was around five years old, and I actually didn't know D-Daddy was a journalist until much later in my life. I think I may have inherited some (not all, of course) of his skills.
