The Diary
This is a picture of something which is very close to my heart. This is my diary. This is not just a diary but a part of my life. This diary knows everything about me, my likes, dislikes, my achievements, my failures and the most importantly the journey of my family. I immigrated to the United States in 2014 with my family. It was a big change in our lives because it was new place, new culture, new society and new language. The biggest change that we experienced is the size of the family. I used to live together in a joint family which is very common in my culture. Grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts and cousins live altogether in peace and harmony. However, now I live in a nuclear family with just my parents and my brother. This is the image of an ideal family is in the United States as perceived by the immigrants. My diary has all the sweet moments that I spent with my family in India while living together. This diary has my journey from living in a big family to a small nuclear family. Whenever I feel lonely or miss my family especially during the festive days, I read my diary and feel like I am there with my family. This diary is something that never changed with my immigration.
