Tallit

My object is a tallit. It is a jewish prayer shawl that is worn all around the world in synagogues. They are worn as a special garment for the service of god.The tallit is also worn by worshipers during morning prayers on week days and shabbat as well as during torah readings by religious jews. To make a tallit traditionally you would have to use wool or linen. This is very important to me and my family. The story of this Tallit is that it belonged to my great-great grandfather, Louis Rosen who immigrated from Poland to the United States in the early 1900’s.  It is important to me because it reminds me of my Jewish culture.  It tells me that my Jewish ancestors were religious and that they prayed. I think it is interesting because it has already been handed down by three generations and will be passed on to me. One thing I would ask my great great grandfather is if he wore theTallit other then on Shabot or other holidays. I would want to know when he got it and how many people in our family wore them. I hope you learned about my object, my family and my past.
