I came to the United States in 2013 for my undergraduate. The student ID is the first thing that gave me an identity. I started been addressed by my preferred name and everything was new here. It was not easy to start a new life in a new country with nothing. However, the ID told me that I belong here and I had a responsibility to be here.

Now I have been living in the States for 6 years. I see how many people desperately need a stable status and how much effort they put to earn that. Having a stable identity is important for an immigrant in a new country.
