Speaker
A speaker, or as we like to call it, a bocina in Spanish, is an item that connects by Bluetooth to your device, and you play music through it. Bocinas come in different sizes, forms, and even colors. My family and I use a bocina for quinceañeras, family gatherings, cookouts, and in general for cleaning. Music is a traditional aspect of our family. We listen to cumbias and norteñas because that is the music that our grandparents and great-grandparents listened to in their native land in Northern Mexico. A bocina is something that I value because when my family migrated to the United States, the only reminder we had of our traditions and culture was through music. Every time I listen to music through the bocina, I'm always reminded of the moments we had with my family in Mexico and the late parties, while my siblings, I, and other kids were sleeping on couches, chairs, and floors, waiting for the party to end, and that was the normalcy of my life with the Mexican culture. Before we had migrated to the United States, my older sister had her quinceañera. I still remember the funny photo booth, the big speaker along the dance floor, her big dress, and her dance. Music was played throughout the celebration of her 15th birthday, but the dance she had with my dad was special, and it is special in our culture. I chose a speaker to talk about because it reminded me of the last time my grandparents and my family were together in a room with no worries of the world and just enjoying the moment.
