Sombrero

Relationship: Child of im/migrant

When i was in the fourth grade, i was introduced to the sombrero . When i first saw the sombrero i was in awe.it was such a good looking hat. I was already halfway done with collecting the money for the sombrero after. I then finally collected enough money to buy it. It took almost two weeks. After that i would leave it at my desk  and continue the next day. I have been keeping the sombrero away from my grandmother because i knew how negatively she would react. My grandmother who is very prideful of her country decided to investigate. She was not pleased. She came into my room and caught me wearing the sombrero. The design of the hat had a giant print of the mexican flag this was not ideal. She told me to return the sombrero, and then confiscated my allowance to stop me from getting my mexican trinkets. But after asking my friends they let me use their card to buy more of my trinkets. The reason these trinkets connect to my identity and culture because these trinkets are what shaped my love for mexican culture.
