Silverware set

Partner:

My object is a silverware set. When I was younger, I would go to my grandmas house for Christmas. We would use the silverware on special occasions only. We would use it for holidays, special occasions and rarely, dinner parties, the set is so hard to clean that we barely use it. It is one of my mother’s favorite items in my house and she cares for it like a child. My grandmother received the silverware set from her mother and my mom received it from my grandmother and I will get it from my mom. The set is so important to my family because it was one of the only item left in a house fire that belonged to my great grandfather, and was the only thing left that we can remember him by. My great grandfather worked in the mines in Germany and had no money, or food, but he cherished this silverware set because it had been in our family for decades prior. After the fire my great grandmother had moved to the United States in search for a new life and brought the set with her.
