My name is Ricardo I’m 17 years old and was born on a very small Island in the middle of the Atlantic. When I turned 16 years old I received a gift from my father, which was a silver wristband and a silver necklace. He told me be very careful with it, so I wouldn’t break it or expose to people that I had it. That wristband has passed through generations. The wristband is made of old silver, for what I was told this silver cannot be made anymore, it was once very famous in Portugal until the source it came from stopped producing it. My grandmother also told me that it was very valuable but that I couldn't sell it, since it would ruin our tradition. This wristband can only be given to the eldest son in our family so it will continue throughout the “Vargas” family through  generations and carry our name. I have thought that if I do not have kids that the wristband will have to die with me.This wristband was given to my grandmother from my great grandfather when she got married to my grandfather.  On the wristband it says both their names. Having this wristband on my hand feels like all my ancestors are watching over that wristband and me and that makes me proud of being able to hold it for them now.
