Sewing Box
My mom’s side of the family migrated from Europe and came to the USA. Far as I know, the women have always been super into fashion I guess you could say. So, it’s not a surprise that we have a small sewing box with needles and small rolls of thread that has been passed down for generations. The women in my family’s past generations have always taught their daughters or son’s how to fix up tiny little tears in their clothing. I don’t know where it came from. I guess it was just random and it ended up getting passed down through my mom’s side. I do think it is important to know how to sew tiny holes because if your children have a favorite shirt or clothing item or even just a favorite stuffed animal and they make a hole in it, you can just fix it right up and it’s as good as new. I think my family’s story is pretty unique because it’s not every day you hear about generations passing down a small, metal, circle box filled with needles and thread along with some little buttons. Sadly though, we had to replace the old box with a newer one, but the tradition still lives on.
