This portrait of my great great grandmother represents my family because art has always been a major part of our history. This portrait was painted by my grandfather's cousin and shows that artistic talent has always been strong in the family. My grandfather used to draw and color with me and later on my little sisters and ever since then drawing and painting has always felt right. We were taught at an early age to express ourselves and art is one of the many ways we are able to outwardly express ourselves to others without actually speaking to them. I chose this portrait because it shows that even in the 1920's art was a large part of my family history.
