My family migrated here from Russia. My great grandmother lived through the Great Depression. They came from Galenya, Russia, which no longer exists. My great grandma passed away on 4/26/2016, just two days before my son, her first great-great-grandson was born. When my mom is missing my grandma, she makes the stuffed cabbage called Halupki. When I graduated high school, my grandma was too sick to travel. Instead, she sent me the string of Austrian Crystals my great grandpa brought her back when we was deployed during world war two.
