When my mother first sought to move to the United States of America she was very scared, It was around 1990 and she was only 17. She had no one to go with her on her journey expect god. My mother came to America for work and opportunities because she wasn't getting any in the Dominican Republic. When she got here she prayed to god every day so he can protect her and she made it here by herself until she was an adult. Religion played a big part in her life and that is why it is very important to my family.
