Grandchild of im/migrant
My great-grandmother was born in 1919. We called her Buba the Yiddish word for grandmother. Her grandparents came from Russia, and migrated through Ellis Island. They brought that prayer book with them. My great-grandmother lived in Brooklyn, New York, until I was three years old, when she moved to New Orleans to be closer to my family.
