red envelopes
My object of choice is red envelopes, it’s a tradition my family and many other people gift on certain occasions. It is mostly used for gifts on important events, like lunar new year or someone’s birthday. It can also be gifted while seeing relatives because it’s not that often you get to see your cousin or grandma. This tradition was taught to me by my parents because they are immigrants from China. Whenever someone gives/receives a red envelope it signifies good luck because in Chinese culture red is a lucky color. When you receive red envelopes you should not open it infront of the person who gave it to you because it is very impolite. This trandition is great because it can show generosity or that you respect someone.
