Real Silverware
My object here is a silverware kit from my great, great, great, great grandparents, Elisha and Eliza Burke in the 1800's. These miscellaneous forks and knives are made from real silver and were a wedding gift to my great, great, great, great grandparents who lived in North Carolina. These objects have been passed down through my dads side of the family and are as of now, with my grandma. This object connects me with my past from the stories it tells. It was brought with my ancestors as they migrated from North Carolina to Arkansas in a covered wagon. A bit latter, the silverware was buried under their house to keep it away from the Yankees during the Civil War. It continues to tell our family of some of our origins and adventures of our pasts.
