Quinceanera Dress
The object I chose is my quinceañera dress because it’s more than just a dress to me it’s a symbol of my culture and a reminder of one of the happiest days of my life. When I look at it I see my story and the love my family put into making that day special. Growing up I always dreamed of having a quinceañera like the ones I saw in movies or heard about from my cousins. My mom is an immigrant who worked really hard to give me that experience even though she had to go back to Mexico to take care of her mom. Even with all that going on she still made sure I had my quinceañera in Mexico and I really felt like a princess that day. The tradition of a quinceañera goes back to the Aztecs and Mayans marking a girl’s transition into adulthood. It’s a big part of Mexican culture and knowing that I got to experience it makes me feel proud of who I am and where I come from. My quinceañera dress connects me to my family because it shows how much they care about me and my dreams and I’ll always be grateful for their love and support.
