Pocket Watch
I personally have never met him but my great great grandfather wore this pocket watch, which was his first big purchase after coming from Italy as a teenager with 7 dollars in his pocket to NYC. In 1920 Bernard DiRienzo came over on a ship from Naples, Italy and ended up in NYC. He came over to start a new life because his family was very very poor. He wanted to get rich and help out his family that was in need. He started off working on dangerous jobs that nobody else would do like the Brooklyn bridge and the subway tunnels. Not only did he work on those but he worked on many other different buildings/ tunnels. Once he became a millionaire he bought 8 apartment buildings which would be worth a fortune nowadays. Eventually someone related to him sold it for a couple million dollars before they became really really expensive.
