Traditional Korean Attire
This is a traditional Korean outfit that was worn at Lunar New Year's gatherings. This specific one was gifted to me around 2015, when my grandmother gifted it to me on one of our family trips to Korea. This outfit was commonly worn during Lunar New Year's celebrations, where all the younger children would bow to the older generations to show respect. Then, the older person would reply with a blessing for the New Year. After, the elder in the interaction would usually gift some money that would go into the money pouch. Since my parents moved to America before I was born, they did their best to immerse me in Korean traditions and etiquette. Because of this, we found our own different way to celebrate Lunar New Year in America. We would call our relatives in Korea, and bow to them through a video call. Every time I remember this memory, I think about my mom and dad doing the same thing in Korea when they were my age. It gives me a sense of connection between my parents and me, while also not forgetting the lifestyle of Korea.
