My grandfather moved here when he was a young adult from Slovakia to escape poverty and corruption. He moved to Clifton, New Jersey where he worked as a car repairman in a small garage shop. This shop was across the street from a diner where he would regularly grab coffee and food. This diner was actually where he met my grandmother, also an immigrant. Somehow, a family member inherited these plates from the diner where they met.
