My object is called a plateen, it’s used to make roti, [row-tee] a popular dish made in Trinidad. I chose this object because in 1971, my grandmother, great uncle, and my great grandmother immigrated from Trinidad to America. The plateen was one of the few things that my grandmother brought along with her. One day I would love to try, but until then, I’ll just eat and watch people make this delicious dish.
