Mooncake
In the Chinese culture, there's a holiday called Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节), it's on the 15th day of the 8th month, the night of a full moon. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, my parents would brought mooncakes! It comes in different types and favor, my favorite ones are the snow-skin mooncake and the lotus seed paste mooncake. They taste delicious, the sweetness makes me fells pleasure and joyful. In the inside of the mooncake, it's brimful with thick lotus seed paste or red bean, and there might be a egg yolk or two in the center of the mooncake. The outside is surrounded with a thin layer of crust varies in different colors or the regular yellowish brown color. Mooncakes symbolize reunion and jointly, the round shape of it represent full and completeness, when the members of the family gathered together, it's a completed family because everyone are together. However, in my family, we never gather together during the day of the festival because of off sites. My grandparents are in China while the rest of us are in the USA. And sometimes my parents are busy with working and didn't come home during the festival. This made me a little disappointed and crestfallen because my parents are always not home, and on that day they're still outside. Therefore, I can only eat mooncakes with my sister, the two of us are alone for the most of the times. I wish that one day, everyone of the family will be gathering together (including my grandparents, cousins and etc.)
