This is a pizzelle recipe. It's a traditional Italian sugar cookie. It was passed down from many generations so the recipe is special to my mom. We don’t make them that often, but when we have them at home, I like to have a few. (My mom or my dad aren’t Italian but some of my ancestors were).  The ingredients that my mom uses to make pizzelles are: 

• 1 cup shortening
• 1 cup sugar 
• 4 eggs
• 2 cups flour 
• 1 tsp.baking powder 
• 1 tsp. Vanilla 
• a pinch of salt.
