Pierogi
By: Milena
For my object I chose Pierogi. Pierogi are usually known as European style dumplings. They’re filled dumplings made by wrapping unleavened dough around a savory or sweet filling and cooked in boiling water. Pierogies could be sweet, savory, and even spicy. They’re traditionally filled with oscypek(Polish cheese), cranberry jam, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, cream, and onions. But the most common fillings used for Pierogi include cheese, onions, ground meat, mushrooms, potatoes, and sauerkraut.
The reason I chose pierogi is because my family has them very often. Mostly we have them when we go to Poland. My mother makes them, my grandmother makes them, and my other grandmother makes them, and sometimes I help out by making them.
Whenever I go to Poland, pierogies are one of my favorite meals there. They’re just so good, especially the creamy inside and the soft dough that wraps around it. I love Pierogi!
