Arroz con Gandules
My artifact is Puerto Rican Rice with pigeon peas. In spanish we call it arroz con gandules. It is from Puerto Rico. It is made as a side or main course for lunch, dinner, holiday, or special occasion.Anyone that enjoys eating spanish food like my family in Puerto Rico. It's made of white rice, pigeon peas, sofrito, and seasoning. Sofrito is a very important ingredient in the rice. It is a mix of spices and herbs.
Rice and pigeon peas are important to me because it is a recipe that is passed down in my family. It teaches how food brings family together. Rice and pigeon peas is a big part of Puerto Rican culture. We eat it for dinner. We also eat in a family cookout. It tastes so good.
My artifact connects to my family and I because it is a part of my culture. My Puerto Rican heritage loves to cook rice and peas but each family has their own recipe for cooking rice and beans. Rice and beans is the most popular meal in my culture because everyone loves to eat it.
