My great-grandma Baba was from Brazil and was in the process of learning English, she was very invested in learning English so her English teacher, with her family’s consent, sent her to live with her sister Mrs. Jaquin in New York City. While in New York she went to school and worked. Baba was able to get a job modeling and made lots of friends such as Margie Roberts. Baba also worked at squibers which was a Brazilian company that her uncle's friends owned. While working there she made a friend who invited her to a wedding where she met my great grandpa, Grandpapa . Grandpapa was a Captain in the U.S. Army at the time and he was stationed in Texas. After about thirty days of knowing each other Grandpapa asked my Baba to marry him and come back to Texas with him which she did before taking her test and earning citizenship.
