Picture of Clare
The photo presented is my great grandmother, Clare. My middle name is Clare, named after her. The picture was taken in 1939, when she was 20 years old. She was the fifth out of six children and was born in 1919 in Chicago. Her oldest brother was born in London, England. Her father, Aaron, was a child of Russian immigrants, who fled from the Cossacks. He then lived in Chicago. Clare was a child vaudevillian star. Vaudevillian is a genre of live entertainment. She played the piano and flute, and also sang.
Her husband, Al, was a lawyer and jazz pianist. Al’s father was a vaudevillian as well. They moved from Chicago to Arizona in 1967. She became a music therapist for the elderly in Tucson. My family still carries a lot of musical passion. I have a love of music, and so do my parents. My family also really enjoys live entertainment and film. Film is actually one of my favorite things to discuss. Her legacy definitely lives on through my parents and me.
