A photograph of my dad in formal attire, in the Navy (2014). He was a  Chief Petty Officer at this point in his career. This photograph illustrates my Father’s service too his country and how his military life shaped our family structure.

• This picture shows a U.S. Navy retirement ceremony for a Senior Chief Petty officer who served honorably for thirty years.
• The picture connects too how my father supported the transition of a service member going from her  military career to civilian life. My dad has made a lot of sacrifices for our family. He has helped me become who I am today by helping me develop a strong sense of discipline and giving me structure in my day to day life. Despite his many deployments in the Navy he always made time for us as a family and was always very present in our lives.
• This photo demonstrates that to be an American means to show patriotism, have freedom, and be independent.
• This story connects too themes in U.S. history such as Opportunity, Education, Exploration, and Global Connections. My father joined the Navy for opportunities to advance his career, gain an formal education, travel the world, and he ultimately became  a global ambassador.
• He was first stationed abroad in Iceland from 2004 to 2006 where he provided submarine communications support for all U.S. submarines in the North Atlantic. His last duty stationed abroad was in Bahrain from 2018 to 2019. Where he supported all satellite communications for all U.S. vessels entering the fifth fleet area of operations, which is the Persian gulf.
• My father retired in 2019 as a Chief Petty Officer.
