Mrs. Khris’s parents Jozefa and Mieczylski, both born in Poland, went through a long journey in order to arrive here in America. During the 1900’s during WW2, when Germany invaded Poland, it was clear that they wanted a better life and a more clear future. Though both of Mrs. Khris’s parents Jozefa and Mieczylski had long journeys as Jozefa traveled on cattle cars in order to escape Poland while Mieczylski worked for the Polish army, Eventually Mieczylski was liberated from the army after serving for a long time. Before the liberation, they met in England where Mrs.Khris was born, they then came to Harrisonburg New Jersey on boat in 1955. Jozefa’s sister who married an American was able to sponsor their family in order for them to gain citizenship. Jozefa worked in a tv making factory while Mieczylski worked as a welder in order to make a living.
