Phonecard, 2007

This is the phonecard I used in 2007 to speak to my abuelito when he lived in Mexico and I lived in Chicago. I called my abuelito because he was very sick. A couple days after that call my abuelito passed away. I was very sad. I keep this card with me because it reminds me of my abuelito. He used to say to me: Mija eres bien inteligente nunca dejes la escula. I worked really hard in school because I wanted to make him proud of me. In 2016 I graduated with a bachelor's degree and in 2018 I graduated with my master's degree. I stuck with school because I wanted to make my parents Efrain and Maritza proud. But I also wanted to make my abuelito proud. One day I hope to be able to travel back to Mexico to visit his grave. For now the phonecard reminds me that I have a family that loves me and has always encouraged me to do my best.
