Pearl Ring
My grandma is from Michigan; so is the rest of her family. They were extremely close. Before my grandma was born, her uncle was in World War 2. He was placed in Italy. While he was there, he went to a shop in the middle of Italy to get a ring. It has a gold band and a pearl right on top of it. When he got back home, he gave the ring to his sister (great grandma). He told his sister that he wanted her to give it to her children when they were old enough. My great-grandpa and great-grandma decided to leave and move to Rochester, New York. It was a great change for my grandma and her sisters. They had to leave behind their friends and family. My great-grandma thought she should give the ring to my grandma because she was the closest to her brother. He gave it to her when she graduated from high school. After graduating from high school, my grandma decided to stay in Rochester while her whole family moved back to Michigan. For a while, my grandma did not want to give it to anyone, but she thought it would be a great gift for my 16th birthday because I am her only granddaughter. She told me the story of how she received it and how she wanted me to have it. I am very honored to have this important gift from her because it meant so much to her as it does to me, and it is something I can hold on to forever until I have children of my own and pass the ring down to them. I never got to meet my grandma's uncle, but I hope he realizes how special this gold ring is to me.
