Pearl Necklace

In Attire

A pearl necklace passed down onto me connects to my heart and my southern heritage. This object has been worn by my great-grandmother, grandmother, my mother, and now is worn by me. My great grandmother wanted more opportunities as a young woman she then migrated to New York City and gave birth to my grandmother. When my grandmother got older she realized that she wanted to explore more of the world, so she moved to Mexico. This necklace was passed down for two generations and shows that perseverance is key when it comes to finding your place in the world. This story means a lot to me and my family, even though they didn’t really migrate outside of the United States. They tried to do everything that they could to give future generations a fabulous life. This object connects to my southern heritage. All the ladies dressed to impress and wouldn’t mind putting on some pearls with their casual outfit everyday.
