Palov

The object I’m putting in the Tenement Museum is a dish called Palov the recipe is:

  • 150ml oil.
  • 500g of meat, such as lamb, cut in big pieces.
  • 2 large onions, peeled and sliced.
  • 400g yellow carrots, peeled and cut into long, thin strips.
  • 150g raw chickpeas, soaked for at least for 8 hours, then washed well.
  • 600ml cold water.
  • 2 heads of garlic.
  • 100g raisins, washed.

  • The reason Palov is important to me is because my whole family; Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle, ect, eats palov on special occasions, like New Year, when a baby is born( there are a lot of people, that you never know), birthdays, ect. I feel like I am home in Uzbekistan when I eat it. It is a tradition that my mom will always make it once a week.
